UL Certified Products Introduction

VNTC stands for Nylon Tray Cable, and is the most common kind of tray cable. VNTC tray cable can also be referred to as THHN/PVC when the insulation on the inners or component wires in the cable is Thermoplastic High Heat Nylon, and TFFN/PVC when the insulationis Thermoplastic Flexible Fixture Nylon.

What is VNTC Cable used for?

With its sturdy make and adaptability in wet or dry environments, yet economical cost, VNTC cable has many different applications. It can be installed in a variety of conduits, ducts, raceways, and cable tray systems. VNTC cable is flame retardant, sunlight resistant, and can be used in hazardous environments and direct burial applications. It is also permitted for use as exposed runs by the NEC when it has the -ER rating.

VNTC tray cable is ideal for industrial and factory settings, or commercial buildings, but can be used for much more. VNTC is rated to 600V and has a temperature rating of 75°C in wet applications and 90°C in dry applications. This cable also has good cold bend and is cold impact resistant, as well as oil and chemical resistant.

What is VNTC tray cable made of?

VNTC cable made by Qingdao Cable can range in size from 18 AWG to 750 MCM, and can have between 2-50 conductors, including multi-pairs and multi-triads.

The inners of VNTC cable have flame retardant PVC insulation covered with nylon. These component wires adhere to their own ratings. THHN and THWN (Thermoplastic Heat and Water Resistant Nylon) applies to wires 14 AWG and larger. TFFN is the stranded (or flexible — that’s where we get the extra F) version of TFN (Thermoplastic Fixture Nylon), and they are both used in fixture sizes, 16-18 AWG.

Typically, there is no shielding on VNTC cable, however, if shielding is required for your application, aluminum mylar foil with a drain wire is the most common choice.
